Anche il PEGASOS II ha un HW migliore rispetto ad un AmigaONE XE, però per esperienza diretta (visto che ho anche la macchina di bplan) AmigaOS e i suoi applicativi sono rocciosi nel vero senso della parola soltanto su AmigaONE.
Questo è il mio caso, è chiaro; mi auguro però che sia così per tutti i possessori di AmigaONE XE.
Di SAM 460ex e AmigaONE X1000 per ora non ne ho; non mi manca però il resto (SAM 440ep mini itx PSile @667 e SAM flex VENTO @800).
Al momento opportuno, nel caso potrò essere più preciso.
Comunque è chiaro che dieci anni di differenza fanno storia, soprattutto in ambito informatico.

perché credo che con i browser (e non solo) un AmigaONE XE abbia sempre qualcosa in più da dire rispetto alle altre macchine.
Alla fine cosa ha ancora, che non va?

Non saprei anzi meno male che l'ho provata prima di spedirla, Enrico mi ha detto che ha tribulato con le memorie ram non so a cosa si riferisse cmq penso d rispedirla a lui così la metto in un case e ci faccio installare os4 e non la tocco pìu.

Sto postando con QtWeb 3.7.5 appena inviatomi da Guillaume, è abbastanza lento qui su iksnet specie aprendo molte tab in caricamento, ma tolti i problemi sparsi si lascia usare abbastanza bene, c'è anche un client Torrent integrato e funziona bene per quello che vedo

L'aspetto più positivo è che se girano già due Browser vuol dire che il porting da altre piattaforme è veramente abbastanza semplice.

Si tratta di principalmente di portare a stabilità le QT.

Addirittura in un futuro si potrebbe pensare di fare un porting di Calligra

QtWeb 3.3.3 seems to be more compatible with the Alfkill port of WebKit, no more error about SQL or others...

This version is now very stable, but a little bit slower than 3.7.5.

edit : it's to much fast with "Enable disk-cache to speed..." checked

Esattamente, si tratta principalmente di rifinire il framework, ovvero intragrare al massimo l'interfaccia Qt in AmigaOS ed eliminare pian piano i bug o le poche cose che non funzionano, quest'ultima cosa avviene quando si portano i programmi reali, perchè dei problemi in genere te ne accorgi durante i port, non prima ..

just a curiosity: in version 3.3.3 the sobjs libraries can be placed directly in PROGDIR or they need to be placed in main sobjs directory as before ?

No more need of them, delete them from SOBJS: and read the 3 others points in the mail

I'm afraid that for html5 that we will need a more uptodate version of QtWeb and therefore a more recent webkit plugin and/or Qt... Alfkill must know that.

Me I don't know all these stuffs.

I have retried an older version (3.3.3) who don't crash anymore for me :)
no more SQL error or strange things, maybe that it was related to a incompatibility of our WebKit with a too much recent QtWeb release.

Well there is no "our WebKit" .. WebKit is used along with the browser software we port .. so latest version is exactly "inside" the latest version of the browser you decide to port .. in this case with QtWeb 3.3.3 we use a WebKit branch they (orginal developers) merge for, reading the changelog date of 3.3.3 i think a 2011 release or similar ..

Aniway about reporting i can confirm that SQL and the other crashes are no more in this 3.3.3 release, it's become quite stable but to be honest i didn't found it so mutch faster comparing to the newer 3.7.5 version we tested before !

The problem seems always the same, when a page is in loading the browser still very slow (quite freezed), however after that the scrolling is mostly fine and often very fast (even faster than MUI OWB) but also in this case
it's not always as fast ..

For example big portal still slow in scrolling even when a page is loaded at 100%, for example try that 2 portals:

www.repubblica.it
www.youtube.it

The first one is quite un-navigable, too slow and hungry resource, while YouTube is faster than repubblica portal but the scrolling still very poor .. here i presume we have some slowdowns caused by Javascript .. Alfkil is
aware of that because at the time he told me that he found similar issue during his initial QtBrowser demo implementation .. here is the same problem, as we have the same fonts issue in all that Qt browsers around ..

The same about the video i presume, Qt even an old release should be able to handle any type of HTML5 videos in YouTube. atleast since 2009/2010, so QtWeb 3.3.3 should be able aswell .. i'm sure we miss somethings al level implementation but i don't know exactly what ... as he return from his holiday we strongly need to ask Alfkil also for that one !

1) no more need to put stuff on SOBJs:
2) no more need to Assign QtWebCache
3) when saving settings, maybe that a "file:" assign request will be asked, just click Assigns and assigns the current directory.

Yes i did all that 3 points above .. for now is ok :-)

4) At 1st start, I recommend you to
-disable JavaScript (it seems to crash some website like Google.com)
-enable disk-cache to speed-up browsing

Ok but for now i'm still using Javascript because i prefer to do real hard test, but i enabled the cache as you suggest .. it's mostly ok apart the issues i wrote above

Yes, no faster than 3.7.5 but fast and more important now it's stable.

I have to try your 2 samples but for me, it's not slower than MUIOWB
but, true, I have take the habit to wait that pages are full loaded to scroll.

With Amiga, I have learned to be patient (and to be grateful to the Computer Lord when a program don't crash )
