Ciao a tutti, Trevor Dickinson ha annunciato ieri di aver siglato un accordo per accelerare lo sviluppo di driver Hans de Ruiter Radeon HD de, credo che nelle prossime ore come pubblicato sul sito web di Aeon.

Following the recent release of the RadeonHD graphics driver for AmigaOS 4.1 Update 5, which made it's official debut on the AmigaONE X1000 "First Contact" system, we are pleased to reveal that we have now concluded a further agreement with Hans de Ruiter for the continued development of his RadeonHD drivers for the AmigaOS. In a statement De Ruiter commented, "I am currently working to get the driver fully ready for 3D, and to release quality. Thanks to the support of Trevor Dickinson (A-EON Technology), I will be able to devote more time to RadeonHD driver development over the next few months, and achieve this goal much sooner than would otherwise have been the case. The features being worked on include: Vertical blanking interrupt support for RadeonHD cards (no more wasting CPU cycles when double-buffering); Video RAM (VRAM) management for the RadeonHD_RM.resource (intelligent VRAM buffer paging)." De Ruiter added, "The last feature is essential for stable 3D operation. I look forward to delivering RadeonHD.chip version 1.x and, of course, to be able to run modern 3D applications using RadeonHD cards and AmigaOS." Dickinson said in reply, "I am really pleased to help fund Hans' RadeonHD driver work. This is excellent news for all AmigaONE X1000 owners, including myself ;-) and hopefully should benefit all AmigaOS 4 users in the future."

Forse si sono resi conto che a questa velocità non si poteva andare avanti restando nel businness. Trovo sintomatico il fatto che sia Trevor ad aver schiacciato il pedale dell'accelleratore con Hans, altrimenti quando può mettere in produzione l'X1000?

beh, era ancora ora direi. Trevor é quello che ha i $$, ce li ha messi, e sono due anni, dico due, che sta aspettando.. si sarà anche stancato credo.. anche perché se aspettano ancora un pò..

beh in produzione c'e' già andata.. il punto semmai é che senza driver 2D/3D decenti non puoi vendere ne tantomeno giustificare il prezzo dell'X-1000.. e fosse solo questo..

Mi sembra che Trevor abbia stretto alleanza commerciale
con Amigakit ora tutti e due sponsorizzano.
Magari anche per questo finalmente può far pressione
ad Hans con 4 soldi in più.
La sensazione è che l'hardware X1000 sia bello e pronto
da un pezzo ma non possono venderlo decentemente
per la mancanza dei driver.

Certe scosse ci vogliono... anche perchè senza organizzazione, e un prodotto mal curato (con certi prezzi) non vai da nessuna parte.

Mi ricordo che ha venduto circa 100 AmigaOneX1000 a betatester + al pubblico, sono oltre 19

Da quel che ha scritto tempo fa Trevor su AW.net, credo sia un po' anche un cambio di strategia.
In passato Trevor, come semplice - abbastanza facoltoso, ma anche molto generoso evidentemente - appassionato aveva donato diverse macchine Sam4x0/AmigaOS per aiutare lo sviluppo di software ecc...
Questa strategia non sembra aver però pagato quanto sperava, ed ha detto che per il futuro sarebbe stata rivista.
Adesso che esiste A-EON (in cui come già detto è entrata anche Amigakit), probabilmente hanno deciso di finanziare progetti specifici che ovviamente hanno molta importanza anche per il loro hardware.

100 X 1000 ? ma non ci credo nemmeno se le vedo 100 schede X1000
e mi dispiace di quello che ho appena detto purtroppo magari ne girassero 100 di X1000

Bella notizia, speriamo che arrivino presto e sopratutto che funzionino anche con la SAM

E' simpatico confontare il ns. approccio italico con quello del resto del modo a fronte di questa notizia. I post del resto del mondo (AW e amigans) sono tutti del tipo great news e positivi, quì invece una ridda di speculazioni (io sono stato il primo) ed opinioni contrastanti.

E' bello essere italiani!
