"I want to make it clear that this is a "Commodore OS" based on Linux, that will run on our Commodores and Amigas with a Workbench flavour. This ties in with our retro theme. We make no bones about it. That is what it is. It wont appeal to everyone who used a classic Amiga in recent times or those that are indoctrinated within a certain camp. That is not our market. If you were expecting more then you were expecting too much...
If you want a classic Amiga experience then I suggest you install either UAE or AROS, which I have mentioned repeatedly that we are likely prohibited legally from using.
We have taken nothing away from the existing Amiga community. Indeed, we have given the Amiga brand new hope of a resurgence where there was none. No really. NONE!!! It was dead! You all had ten or more years to do it your way and nothing of any major significance happened as far as the world is concerned.
Like it or not, we are rebooting the Amiga, Workbench and all. Think of it like the new James Bond, Batman or even Battlestar Galactica remakes. It is not the same..ON PURPOSE! It is better. Get over it. Why you would want it to function exactly the same as it did 20 years ago is a mystery to most people out there you know, and considered sheer craziness. It's like the jump from classic MacOS to MacOSX, it was severe, but over time you'll see, just as they did, that it was a necessary step to be competitive. EVOLVE!!!
But more to the point you have lost nothing.
You can have Commodore OS: Amiga Workbench 5
AND YOU CAN HAVE AROS for free if you want.
And you can even switch between the two at will.
On our machines, you can have your classic Amiga cake and eat it too AND YOU CAN RUN THE LATEST AND GREATEST GAMES on our hardware through Windows.
Why should we re-invent the wheel too? That's what brought the community and the AMIGA such stagnation in the first place. Unrealistic expectations and a stubborn reluctance and inability to adapt to today's technology reality. We will not be shooting ourselves in the foot too.
If it really bothers you so much, then install AROS on whatever machine you like, or one that IS ACTUALLY CALLED AN AMIGA if that is important to you.
However, there is not a doubt in my mind that our custom Commodore OS will be more powerful, more stable, better supported, and have more software available out of the box than any classic Amiga-like system will ever have in its entire lifetime. It will allow people to unlease their computer related creative desires out of the box in a way the classic OS and its offshoots could only dream of. There are no limitations...no porting headaches...nothing to hold it back!!! Just your imagination.
By any objective measurement our custom Commodore OS, will be taken more seriously by newcomers and returning Amigans and be considered far more professional than any of the alternatives you have so strenuously mentioned that are really, even by many proponents, NOT FIT FOR PRIMETIME!!!"
