Our Athena project is based on a very reliable set of Freescale reference designs for use with the MPC8349 processor. We designed it to compete with other “Power” motherboards running at speed of 500-700 MHz. The feature set includes USB 2.0 high speed, Gigabit Ethernet, SATA and support for DDR RAM (DIMMS). It has been a working system running Linux from day one. It currently runs a variant of Debian Linux.
Project Status:
1) The initial hardware was designed, developed and tested during 2007. The final design is 99% completed, and locked in. The “Athena” project only needs to have the Os4x porting work completed. Next step is further testing with OS4x, and any of the 1% of changes be applied to the design. For some time this project has been on hold awaiting the outcome of the lawsuit between the parties Amiga Inc.vs Hyperion.
2) Our focus now is to shift our “Athena” project into supplementary markets as they become available. MorphOs and AROS PPC look like good possibilities.
